Meet Patrick: The Video-Hobbit Behind Doodt Media
Hi, I’m Patrick, also known as the Video-Hobbit. From my very first Erasmus exchange in Iceland to building Doodt Media into what it is today, my journey has always been about storytelling and visualising ideas in a way that inspires and connects.
With my hobbit lifestyle, I’m often out in the world filming a big event maybe in Paris, then heading to Madrid or Berlin before returning home to my quiet Hobbit-hole in Konstanz, a picturesque town on the shores of Lake Constance with the Alps in the background in southern Germany. At home, I focus on editing, planning my next mission, and enjoying the comforts of my small-town life before venturing out again on the next adventure. My personal journey isn’t just a background, it’s the foundation of how I approach my work with clients. Check out below how it translates into benefits for you. |
From Erasmus to Expertise - The Doodt Media Story:
It all started during my Erasmus+ Exchange in Iceland back in 2010 when I said, "I have to film this!" to capture my adventure abroad. During that time, I dreamed of creating videos that captured the energy of the moment, as if they were straight out of a movie, but I lacked the skills and technology to do so. That ambition has driven my work ever since.
Upon my return, I joined the Erasmus Student Network in my local section in Dortmund to continue my Icelandic Dreams. Thanks to a viral video, The Erasmus Trailer from 2013, I became the first Video Director of ESN International for the flagship project Mov’in Europe in 2014. By the end of that year, through my volunteering experiences, I knew I wanted to pursue videomaking forever and registered Doodt Films as a small business enterprise as a freelancer.
After earning my master’s degree in 2017, I dedicated myself to full-time videomaking, learning, growing, and overcoming the challenges of being a solo entrepreneur. With each project, I evolved, eventually taking the next step in 2022 to transition my business into its own legal entity: Doodt Media GmbH, established in 2023.

The Doodt Media Vision:
The Doodt Media logo is deeply rooted in my Erasmus Exchange in Iceland, inspired by Nordic runes that carry both personal and symbolic significance. When incorporating the company, I wanted to honour the origins of my journey as a videomaker in Iceland and maintain that meaningful connection.
The Doodt Media initials, "D" and "M," are designed around the runes Dagaz and Mannaz from the Elder Futhark alphabet. Dagaz (Day) represents dawn and new beginnings, symbolising hope and positive change. Mannaz (Human) stands for self-awareness, humanity, and the power of communication and collaboration.
For me, these runes embody self-actualisation and the "Dawn of Humanity," reflecting the hope and progress that arise when we discover our true purpose and work together. Videomaking became my calling—a way to do what I love, to visualise ideas, and to foster meaningful connections. With the Doodt Media logo, I wish everyone the same courage and clarity to find their own path, just as I was fortunate enough to find mine. May it serve as a symbol of encouragement and hope for all who see it. |
The journey of Doodt Media began with a spark of inspiration during my Erasmus exchange in Iceland that set me on the path to videomaking. Today, that same passion shines through in the Doodt Media logo and the slogan, "Ideas. Visualised." Together, they represent my commitment to transforming ideas into powerful visuals that inspire, connect, and drive positive change.
With every project, I channel this dedication to help my clients tell their stories in ways that truly resonate and leave a lasting impact. Let’s work together to bring your vision to life. Reach out today, and let’s create something extraordinary together. |
I hope the Doodt Media vision continues to inspire and encourage everyone it touches. Here’s to capturing moments, sharing stories, and making ideas come alive.
The best is yet to come.
Warm regards,
Patrick Doodt
